Plane spotting road trip : Day 11 July 11th Mukilteo WA => Richmond BC - 3 airports
Final day of the road trip back home on yet another beautiful hot day. We left the hotel in Mukilteo bypassing Everett Paine Field again, I didn't stop and observed no immediate changed from the evening before. We headed up the I5 north and pulled into Arlington Municipal (code KAWO), just a couple of blocks east on SR531. The runway is headed north south, with the buildings each side east and west. Starting on the east side driving up 59th Ave NE yielded the usual GA, with a Bell 47 and Grumman Tracker plus a couple of Navion's. Abandoned midfield is a Douglas DC3 and in a hangar which was open is a Vultee / Stinson Reliant with the American Airpower heritage Flying Museum.

We continued north back up the I5 and stopped at Burlington Skagit Regional (code KBVS) which is a few miles to the west along SR20. This place has grown hugely since I last visited in 2012 to the extent I did not recognize it at all and was greeted by a Netjets Global on the ramp which would not have been possible before. There were a couple of other biz too, but little of any note. On the other side is the Heritage Flight Museum which has a Beech Mentor on a pedestal on the road outside, but I did not have time to visit, though caught a glimpse of a Huey. There are a few more GA types over here too, the most notable being an Epic.
Finally we continued north up the I5 again towards Bellingham which has an international airport with code KBLI. The end of the runway is right next to the highway to the west, the exit is further south just a short distance away. This was the final month of service by Southwest Airlines who were the only airline I saw this time who served Denver, Oakland and Las Vegas. It is now only served by Alaska Airlines to Seattle with SkyWest / Horizon ERJ-175's and Allegiant Air to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland, Palm Springs and Phoenix Mesa Gateway, plus seasonal to San Diego. San Juan Airlines with their fleet of Cessna pistons also offer scheduled service to Eastsound [Orcas Island], Friday Harbor [San Juan Island], Lopez Island, Roche Harbor [San Juan Island] and Blakely Island as well as charters all over WA and into BC including Vancouver. There a also cargo services from Fedex Feeder with C208's and Ameriflight with BE99's / BE1900's. There is a busy FBO with the usual GA, bizprops and jets and I see a lot of aircraft departing YVR to stop here for cheaper fuel and customs clearance. There was nothing of too much note other than a CL415EAF from Bridger Air Tanker.
N283AF ~ Pilatus PC-12/47E ~ Planesense [Portsmouth NH]

That was the end of the trap as we did the last short leg up the I5 to the Canadian border at Blaine and back to Vancouver - and first stop was our go to sushi restaurant!! As always, the full lot of photos are in my albums on Flickr listed alphabetically by airport
