May 1st ... C-GWRG Boeing 737-8CT of WestJet suffered a burst tire and safely returned to YVR.
NEWS OF THE WEEK
27th April ... Air Canada have extended their codeshare partnership with Singapore Airlines adding Brussels [BRU] from SIN on SQ and SQ on AC flights to SIN from YVR (plus YYZ & YUL - BRU).
30th April ... Jim Liu of AeroRoutes reports Air Canada will increase AC17/18 to Manila [MNL] with a fifth weekly flight from 7th December. Aircraft is 787-9.
1st May ... WS1740 to Phoenix AZ [PHX] returned with a burst tire and closed 26L for over three hours, the aircraft was finally moved to their hangar.
1st May ... final revenue flight of KF Aerospace Convair from Victoria. C-GKFS stretched 5800 will remain at YVR on standby until around the 11th.
2nd May ... first summer seasonal Condor flight 5x weekly until 25th October operated by A330-900 D-ANRF. Codeshares are offered on the other two days via Toronto on WestJet or Seattle on Alaska.
2nd May ... a further update from Fiji Airways, Jim Liu of AeroRoutes reports the A350-900 will replace the A330-2/300 on certain flights in October and fully from 5th November currently to 30th January.
2nd May ... American A/L marked their 40th anniversary of service to YVR, although a poster pointed out it was actually the following year later taking over Air Cal's route to San Jose CA onward to Dallas Fort Worth and Orlando with an MD81.
3rd May ... Air Canada cancel Raleigh Durham SC [RDU] from 29th July.
FOR THE DIARY - from YVR unless stated
4th May ... first British A/W summer seasonal Gatwick [LGW] flight with 777-200ER BA2278/9 arr 1330 dep 1530 until 18th September. Schedule now remains 787-8 on second Heathrow [LHR] flight BA86/7 until 20th June, it will be 787-9 29th June one day only and reverts to 777-200ER 1st July until 1st September when it reverts back to 787-8 until last flight 1st October. Year round BA84/5 switches back to A350-1000 6th July until 8th September when it reverts to 777-200ER for the winter season. It seems equipment changes are not unusual meanwhile.
5th May ... Edelweiss Air seasonal from Zurich [ZRH] starts with A350-900 4x weekly and daily from 13th June until 10th September and back to 4x weekly until 22nd October. WK10 arr 1315/1320/1325 (5-10 minutes apart on different days) WK11 dep 1635-40.
13th May ... Porter A/L commence Kelowna [YLW] from Ottawa [YOW].
15th May ... WestJet Encore recommence Penticton [YYF].
15th May ... AA1415 from Dallas Fort Worth TX will switch to A321 for the summer season on most days, though 737-800 remains scheduled others.
19th May ... WestJet Encore commence Terrace [YXT] from Edmonton [YEG].
19th May ... KLM upgrade from 787-10 to 777-300ER until 26th October when it reverts to A330-200. I have seen many one off equipment changes over the past few weeks.
21st May ... American A/L to operate A321N on AA1719 from Los Angeles [LAX] until 4th August.
21st May ... American A/L to commence Charlotte NC [CLT] seasonal service with A321 AA1817 arr 2110 dep 2210.
21st May ... American A/L to commence Chicago O'Hare IL [ORD] seasonal service with 737-800 AA1717 arr 1230 dep 1325.
23rd May ... Delta A/L resume Atlanta GA [ATL]. Equipment is 737-900ER DL2470/1871 arr 1225 dep 1340.
5th June ... ANA commence seasonal Narita [NRT] service until 31st August with 787-9 to complement their existing Haneda [HND] service.
15th June ... Porter A/L commence Montreal St Hubert [YHU].
19th June ... WestJet commence Comox [YQQ] from Toronto [YYZ].
25th June ... Harbour Air commence downtown Vancouver Coal Harbour [CXH] to Ucluelet [AN3].
6th July ... Harbour Air commence downtown Vancouver Coal Harbour [CXH] to Campbell River, The Spit water aerodrome [YHH] opposed to YBL.
25th July ... Vanderhoof airshow, also 26th for a two day event celebrating 100 years of Vanderhoof.
1st August ... Air Canada weekly AC315/6 787-9 service to Honolulu [HNL] until 7th September.
4th August ... Canadian Snowbirds display in Victoria.
7th August ... Abbotsford Airshow, also 8th and 9th incl Canadian Snowbirds.
12th August ... Canadian Snowbirds display over White Rock.
15th August ... Chilliwack Flight Fest.
22nd August ... Air North resume seasonal Yellowknife [YZF].
December ... new Air Canada (Rouge) seasonal services : 3rd Monterrey [MTY], 7th Puerto Escondido [PXM], 13th Liberia [LIR], 15th Mazatlan [MZT] and 17th Sapporo-Chitose [CTS] (mainline).
