NEWS OF THE WEEK
4th May ... at approx 4am a man scaled the fence and climbed into the wheel well of a parked Porter A/L ERJ-195 which seemed to be C-GZQV. He was arrested and charged with break and enter, mischief and two counts of assaulting a peace officer.
4th May ... first British A/W summer seasonal from Gatwick [LGW] with 777-200ER reg G-YMME
5th May ... first Edelweiss summer seasonal from Zurich [ZRH] with A350-900 reg HB-IHB
6th May ... taxiway AR re-opens, good news for platform spotters and south terminal tenants.
7th May ... Jim Liu of AeroRoutes reports Air Canada will continue to use 777-200LR to Sydney [SYD] daily until 30th May. It will switch to 787-9 between 5th July - 29th September. The 4th weekly flight is extended through 24th October.
11th May ... Snowbirds stopped in Kamloops [YKA] returning back east after spring training in Comox [YQQ]. Rumours have been circulating this will be the final season for the team as part of austerity measures.
12th May ... Jim Liu of AeroRoutes reports more Air Canada transborder route cuts, including YVR to Raleigh Durham NC [RDU] which will end 29th July instead of 7th September and Anchorage [ANC] reducing from 7 to 5 weekly until 17th September instead of 30th September, Miami [MIA] 4 to 2 weekly and Seattle [SEA] 28 to 27 weekly.
12th May ... WestJet confirm their codeshare agreement with Fiji A/W with many codeshare routes onward from Calgary.
12th May ... Jim Liu of AeroRoutes expands on Air India's route cuts due to aircraft shortages (they have retired their 777-200LR's). Delhi [DEL] to YVR is reduced to 5 weekly through to 31st August, with inbound via Kolkata [CCU].
12th May ... Jim also reports T'Way Air will be reduced from 4 to 3 weekly between 6th - 27th June.
13th May ... Jim reports Air Canada Asia routes to Hong Kong [HKG] reduced from 7 to 6 weekly between 8th September - 2nd October, Manila [MNL] reduced from 4 to 3 weeky between 20th July - 1st October apart from first week of August and Singapore [SIN] from 4 to 3 weekly 3rd - 16th July and 24th August - 25th September. All 787-9.

15th May ... WestJet Encore recommence Penticton [YYF].
15th May ... WestJet Encore commence Cambell River [YBL] from Calgary [YYC].
15th May ... AA1415 from Dallas Fort Worth TX will switch to A321 for the summer season on most days, though 737-800 remains scheduled others.
19th May ... WestJet Encore commence Terrace [YXT] from Edmonton [YEG].
19th May ... KLM upgrade from 787-10 to 777-300ER until 26th October when it reverts to A330-200. I have seen many one off equipment changes over the past few weeks.
21st May ... American A/L to operate A321N on AA1719 from Los Angeles [LAX] until 4th August.
21st May ... American A/L to commence Charlotte NC [CLT] seasonal service with A321 AA1817 arr 2110 dep 2210.
21st May ... American A/L to commence Chicago O'Hare IL [ORD] seasonal service with 737-800 AA1717 arr 1230 dep 1325.
23rd May ... Delta A/L resume Atlanta GA [ATL]. Equipment is 737-900ER DL2470/1871 arr 1225 dep 1340.
5th June ... ANA commence seasonal Narita [NRT] service until 31st August with 787-9 to complement their existing Haneda [HND] service.
15th June ... Porter A/L commence Montreal St Hubert [YHU].
19th June ... WestJet commence Comox [YQQ] from Toronto [YYZ].
25th June ... Harbour Air commence downtown Vancouver Coal Harbour [CXH] to Ucluelet [AN3].
6th July ... Harbour Air commence downtown Vancouver Coal Harbour [CXH] to Campbell River, The Spit water aerodrome [YHH] opposed to YBL.
25th July ... Vanderhoof airshow, also 26th for a two day event celebrating 100 years of Vanderhoof.
1st August ... Air Canada weekly AC315/6 787-9 service to Honolulu [HNL] until 7th September.
4th August ... Canadian Snowbirds display in Victoria.
7th August ... Abbotsford Airshow, also 8th and 9th incl Canadian Snowbirds.
12th August ... Canadian Snowbirds display over White Rock - possibly the last time in BC if rumours are to be believed.
15th August ... Chilliwack Flight Fest.
22nd August ... Air North resume seasonal Yellowknife [YZF].
December ... new Air Canada (Rouge) seasonal services : 3rd Monterrey [MTY], 7th Puerto Escondido [PXM], 13th Liberia [LIR], 15th Mazatlan [MZT] and 17th Sapporo-Chitose [CTS] (mainline).
