ACCIDENTS

3rd July ... N430BC ... Lancair IV-P ... Trustee [Carson City NV] ... gear collapse after leaving the runway upon landing in Kelowna ]YLW] after a local flight which resulted in a closure of the airport.  Home seems to be Falcon Field in Mesa AZ, it arrived in YLW from there via Boise ID on 7th May.

NEWS OF THE WEEK

Jun 30th ... YVR announce passenger numbers from the first half of the FIFA World Cup.  Since  the start of the the games period from 8th June, an estimated 1.8 million travellers passed through YVR without issue, aided by the new CATSA Plus CT scanners which allow passengers to keep small amoints of liquids and large electronics in their carry on.  It will be interested to see the numbers for the following period including the regular summer season and an expected record cruise ship season.

1st July ... Jim Liu of AeroRoutes reports Turkish A/L extend frequency increase from 3 to 4 weekly from 5th July with a mix of 777-300ER and 787-9 (I see first 789 flight is 12th July) until 24th October (originally 13th September), then back to 3x weekly and then 5x weekly from 7th December.

3rd July ... Jim also reports Air Canada will replace 2x daily Jazz CRJ-900 to Yellowknife NT with mainline A220 between 8th - 30th September, then 1x daily from 25th October until 27th March 2027 (it will revert back to 2x daily CRJ-900 1st - 24th October).

3rd July ... Jim also reports Philippine A/L will increase Manila from daily to 10x weekly from 17th November.  The additional 3x weekly flight will be PR136 arr 0800 / PR137 dep 1235 on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday, initially with A350-900, replaced by 777-300ER between 1st December - 30th January 2027.

3rd July ... BC Business annual awards have included YVR CEO Tamara Vrooman as one of the Women of the Year.  Cascadia Collection at YVR (located near gate B15) were also named the Best New News & Gift Concept at the Excellence in Airport Concessions Awards.

3rd July ... British domestic travellers rejoice, in addition to the already open store in international departures near gate D71, Pret A Manger will also open a further store near gate B17.

12th July ... first of select Turkish 787-9 on TK75/6 arr 1715 / dep 1910.

25th July ... Vanderhoof airshow, also 26th for a two day event celebrating 100 years of Vanderhoof.

1st August ... Air Canada weekly AC315/6 787-9 service to Honolulu [HNL] until 7th September.

4th August ... Canadian Snowbirds display in Victoria.

7th August ... Abbotsford Airshow, also 8th and 9th incl Canadian Snowbirds.

12th August ... Canadian Snowbirds display over White Rock - the last time in BC

15th August ... Chilliwack Flight Fest.

22nd August ... Air North resume seasonal Yellowknife [YZF].

28th August ... final Sun Country A/L Minneapolis St Paul [MSP] seasonal flight

29th August ... Langley Regional airport Air Fare between 1000 - 1700.

31st August ... final summer seasonal ANA service from Narita [NRT] NH135/6 arr 1040 dep 1230.

1st September ... BA86/7 reverts from 777-200ER back to 787-8.

8th September ... BA84/5 from London Heathrow [LHR] switches from A350-1000 to 777-200ER.

18th September ... final British A/W BA2278/9 summer seasonal from London Gatwick [LGW].

1st October ... final British A/W BA86/7 summer seasonal from London Heathrow [LHR].

22nd October .... final summer seasonal Edelweiss Air from Zurich [ZRH].

24th October ... Aviation Expo at South Arm United Church 11051 No 3 Road between 1100-1600.

25th October ... Lufthansa from Frankfurt [FRA] switches from 747-400 to 787-9.

25th October ... final summer seasonal Condor from Frankfurt [FRA].

26th October ... KLM from Amsterdam [AMS] switches from 777-300ER to A330-200.

17th November ... additional 3x weekly Philippine A/L A350-900 from Manila [MNL] PR136/7 arr 0800 dep 1210 for a daytime departure.  Will revert to 777-300ER 1st December.

21st November ... Delta A/L twice daily from Los Angeles [LAX] with A319 DL3192 arr 1140 dep 1250 and DL3184 arr YVR 1810 dep 1930.

1st December ... Air Canada AC1314/1317 to Cancun [CUN] upgrades to 787-9.

December ... new Air Canada (Rouge) seasonal services : 3rd Monterrey [MTY], 7th Puerto Escondido [PXM], 13th Liberia [LIR], 15th Mazatlan [MZT] and 17th Sapporo-Chitose [CTS] (mainline 787-9).

30th January ... 3x weekly additional Philippine A/L from Manila [MNL] PR136/7 reverts from 777-300ER to A350-900.

Catch of the tournament so far, newly delivered in thie special livery to pick up the defeated Algerian team back home to Algiers.  First ever Algerian registered aircraft at YVR AFAIK, first time two A330NEO's have been on the ground together and only third operator here after Condor and Hifly

Shout out to Abbotsford who on 29th June got USAF C130J Super Hercules 08-86043, plus Canadian North also paid visits to Kamloops on 3rd July with C-FHBO 737-7CT and Abbotsford with C-FHNL 737-752

Shout out to Tim Martin in Victoria who shot this S92 on 30th June which is guessed to be the former Norsk Helicopters LN-OEC which on delivery to PHI in Lafayette LA infamously hit an overpass and became an internet meme - the roof damage seems consistent with this and is believed to be purchased for parts only
