NEWS OF THE WEEK
13th July ... Allegiant Air confirm the Sun Country brand will disappear "once the operational integration of the two carriers is completed". The Sun Country brand has been around for 43 years, starting operations in January 1983 using a leased B727 from Air Florida. The airline operate a small summer seasonal scheduled service to YVR from their base in Minneapolis St Paul MN but visit more frequently on MLS flights carrying the White Caps to their away games and bringing in most visiting teams, plus other sports and cruise ship related charters throughout the year. Presumably all this work will continue under new Allegiant ownership assuming their charter work is profitable and a reason for the purchase.
