Image by King Hui on Flickr seen earlier in the yeat at YVR. The 1980 built machine has been with Upper Valley Aviation of Chilliwack since May 2017 and was seen all over the province, but only joined Sekani in October last year, making a fleet of two each Super King Air's and Piper Navajo's.
21st August ... C-GJYO ... Cessna 172 ... Private [Calgary] ... a light aircraft nosed over on take off into turbulence from Quesnel, the pilot and passenger walked away unhurt. From an image I found on social media and blown up, the ID seems to be as stated.

NEWS OF THE WEEK
18th August ... Hope Air - a voluntary organization where private pilots donate their time and use their aircraft to fly people in remote communities to medical appointments - announce their Haul for Hope challenge for 22nd September where various persons from YVR tenants will pull a WestJet Encore Q400 100m. They have had stands at the local airshows this summer, please go to the hopeair.ca website and make a donation if possible.
18th August ... former KF Aeroflyer B737-6CT C-GKFP (ex WestJet C-GWCY) ferried from Kelowna to Marana AZ via Moses Lake WA for part out. Sistership C-GKFQ was briefly registered to Air North, but is now back with Regency Aero Lease, affiliated with KF and remains stored in Kelowna, with Aeroflyer effectively ceasing operations from December 2025.
20th August ... WestJet has completed the cabin transformation of it's remaining all economy aircraft formerly operated by Sunwing and Swoop. They feature upgraded premium seating and expanded extended comfort cabin and enhanced amenities including Wifi provided by Telus, updated headrests, personal device holders and modernized charging points. The remaining "legacy" aircraft will be refurbished from September to be completed by the end of 2027.
20th August ... Air Canada will start seasonal Dublin service earlier in 2027 from 31st March 3x weekly until 2nd May, when it will increase to 4x weekly with B787-9. There are some interesting Star Alliance connections such as Zagreb with Croatia A/L and Athens with Aegean A/L.
20th August ... NASA sent their modified Lockheed ER-2 (U-2 spyplane) N806NA over central BC again monitoring wildfire smoke patterns, operating out of Great Falls MT
22nd August ... Jim Liu of Aeroroutes reports that Air China will increase their Beijing Capital [PEK] route from 3 to 5 weekly from 27th September. Schedule remains CA991/2 arr YVR 1000 dep 1300 with B777-300 (ER).
22nd August ... YVR saw a large electric storm over the airport late evening resulting in a red alert ground stop, major delays to aircraft already landed or boarded, some damage to the terminal with floods and lots of delays to baggage.
22nd August ... Air North resume seasonal Yellowknife [YZF].
